The Children who were sexually abused were persecuted. They were forced to confront the abuser who was declared innocent because there was no- two witnesses.

It's not persecution, it's accountability
by Splash inwell i was loathe to start a new thread on the australian royal commission, but i've been reading in thread after thread how jw's are trying to dismiss what's happening with "it's persecution".. if anyone says this to you, just respond "it's not persecution, it's accountability.
they are being called to explain their procedures, and nothing more.".
persecution is hostility against someones religion.this is not against the jw religion, it's against procedures that jw's champion as being 'the best in the world' when in reality, and with a little analysis are proving to be among the most harmful.

Could this news cause a new revolt of members taking the lead like that which happened after the 1975 fiasco?
by opusdei1972 inwe know that after the 1975 fiasco there were some revolts and disappointments in the brotherhood, which finally caused the removal of raymond franz and overseers like james penton, and so on.
so, may be these news could cause the revolt of some members in the leadership.
any thoughts?

I don't think so, it's still to small. It has to be really really big and constant like every month and hitting every news outlet. Even to the point where it becomes a constant item for joking by comedians on television like SNL. To the point where it becomes to embarrassing to be associated with the Watchtower.

JW Reaction to Royal Commission Reports

i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

A few weeks ago they had a local needs talk in my mom's congregation. The theme of the talk was;
(Isaiah 52:11) . . .touch nothing unclean. . .
The brother emphasized to the congregation that if they expect Jehovah to give them everlasting life in the paradise earth, then they will stay away from any "News" or internet articles that badmouths the Watchtower.
To listen to such news is "Touching the Unclean thing"
So I guess no one will even listen to what's happening now.

I think they both believe it (consciously) and also know it is not true (suppressed) - just like I did when I was a member.I totally agree with this because it is exactly what I experienced. I believed it was true, but at the same time I knew it wasn't true. It's only when the contradictions are to much to bear that I finally decided to put them to the test and they failed. And even at that, it was difficult accepting. Now the question was, should I DA or should I fade and stay? The GB has more to lose, they are old, have no marketable skills to survived in the world, so if they admit the truth that it is a scam, then they get disfellowshipped, shunned, and are thrown in the streets. Why would they do that and cut their own throat?

Sad about the past
by Gorbatchov intoday i feel deep sad memories in my brain.. visiting bookstudy with my parents, doing my best giving answers at 7 years old.. doing fieldservice every weekend and on an evening.. i could write so much story's about it.. we believed from our hart and listened to what the organisation told us.. it makes me sad, what a scam it became.. today i can't stand it.. i can cry about it.

I feel sad for my ex-wife who was born in and started pioneering at 16 years of age and is still pioneering and almost 60 years old. We gave up having children because we thought the end was just around the corner. We built up a nice life and by the time she was 30 years old we had a huge house paid off, new cars every year, a regular maid that cleaned the house every week, dinner at restaurants ever day. But once I started telling her some of the crazy things the WT had done like changing the blood doctrine to include fractions, she felt her everlasting life was threaten and filed for divorced. She stills believes the paradise is coming in her time. I feel sorry for her because I know they will throw her away like trash once they have no use for her. -

the kingdom hall i used to attend and my mom still attends was paid off many years ago and serves about 6 congregations.
one of the english congregations has a lot of financially well of members.

Boyfriend and dating news - Any advice

Lovely, and heart-warming to read. I just wish that one, just one body of elders - and the congregation - would unanimously stand together against the Org in something like this. Show unity against the bully, they can't demand private funds!I wonder what would have happened if they would have stand against the Org? I believe the name of the account in the bank was not the Kingdom Hall. Maybe they were threaten with disfellowshiping, I'm not sure. As it is, the family's of the two elders are now split because the wives want to be loyal to the organization and the former elder husbands want nothing to do with the Org anymore. Either way the Watchtower has again damaged another two families with children. Plus all the members who contributed to that fund are split. Some are mad at the Watchtower and some are still loyal because they think God is behind them and not the elders. It's never easy. -

I know some witnesses who ALREADY believe that there are other planets with intelligent life on them that Jehovah is working with. I hear people say, "What if there is another planet out there, where they didn't disobey, and they are living in paradise?" "Wow, cool!", is usually the response.

It's like the org is getting blatant now - like it doesn't even care that it might alienate some (many?).You know I really believe they don't care who leaves or who gets mad. They demoted DOs, old elders and COs, removed elders, kicked out many serving in Branches and Bethel for years. They don't seem to care how many leave as long as they can get as much money as possible in this short term. They are not thinking or caring about long term anymore.
